Why did you choose to pursue an online program?

As a working adult with numerous commitments both professionally and personally, I found the flexibility of an online program allowed me to easily fit class time within my schedule constraints. The online classes provided the flexibility of logging in wherever I was at the moment — at home, in the office, or on my train ride home.

How has your online degree program benefited you personally?

I have absolutely been able to form a connection with my instructors and classmates in my online program. The software we use is excellent and has the same engagement as the actual classroom environment. In addition, I’ve had some instructors arrange for optional “meet ups,” which allowed for some in-person face time.

How have you been able to form a connection with educators, with classes being online?

Taking classes online allowed me to maintain my personal life, which normally endured some sacrifices when taking classes in person. The flexibility of classes being online allowed me to maintain my personal commitments while achieving the goal of earning a degree.

How has your online degree program prepared you for a career in your field?

In today’s world, virtual meetings are commonplace. Knowing how to engage, effectively convey a message, and deliver results in a virtual environment are key competencies in today’s business world. My online degree program certainly sharpened my proficiency in this area.

Nursing, RN-BSN, Graduate, University of Nebraska Medical Center

Why did you choose to pursue an online program?

I chose the RN-BSN program at the University of Nebraska Medical Center (UNMC) for their esteemed educational program and accreditation history. I chose the online platform for the convenience and flexibility, as I had to make it work with a very demanding nursing position.

How has your online degree program benefited you personally?

There was consistent support from my professors, who were dedicated to my success. I have come to love communicating via discussion boards, email, text, and video conferences. When it came to my work hours, my professors were willing to connect at all different times of the day to help me.

How have you been able to form a connection with educators, with classes being online?

Online learning has been the greatest experience for me and is now my primary source for education. While in my program I held a full-time position,  was available for my family, took family vacations, and traveled for work, all while making time for classes and maintaining desired grades.

How has your online degree program prepared you for a career in your field?

Pursuing a career in nursing research requires substantial education, practice, and experience. This online degree helped me take the next step, and  laid a strong foundation for my next educational venture in nursing — my Doctoral of Nursing candidacy.
